Xonocostle said, in post 9 at the link: *Anton is taking an extended haitus from these forums. I'd suggest e-mail. He did mention that the cat he was working on won't be "Millennium," which I think meant not quite as complex as people wanted. There was sort of an informal vote a couple of months ago in which most people said they wanted a short-haired tabby. Maybe there can be a fluffy trans map or morph?* So I was taking hisOrHer word for it! Honest! But I was talking about this cat -- the newest one I've seen from DAZ. B^)Oh I see. Was worried there about a flood of hate mail. I get it now. No I don't think I said that though. Our goal from the beginning is for it to be Millenium. I think what they refered to was that the cat would have to be shorthaired and not long haired. If even possible, a long haired cat would have to be a different cat product. Never saw that post before. Thansk for heads up.

no no. People will loove it. Working hard on it. Morphs are just taking forever.

It might be possible but the geom intensive morphs on the long hair figure could cause problems.

Couldn't it be done like some sort of transmapped hair figure? Just covering it all. A conforming hair so to speak? Not sure if it would work but what do I know L Not much about hair at least. But it outta work. Ah well, those long haired furballs aren't as pretty as my darling shorthairs anyway ;o)

Hmm, I have to disagree, ernyoka1. Some long haired cats are beautiful. My long departed friend, Scruffy, was a very good looking cat. He had the regular "pointed" face of a short hair, but a very long coat. I'll try to dig out a pic to show you.

SamTherapy G I am sure to get an angry lynch-thirsty mop running my way if I ever said it aloud in the cat-newsgroup I also belong to, but... although there indeed ARE some beautiful long haired cats, they're few and far between GG

ernyoka1, I have to agree in general; most of 'em look like they have been smacked in the face with a shovel. :) But - ugly as they may be compared to other, "prettier" cats, I have yet to see an ugly cat. There just ain't no such animal.

While I think its possible (probably) with the new cat mesh to fake the "volume" of the long hair, it wouldn't really look good I think. And I am not a fan of transmapping vast surface areas, because its impossible to get every camera angle, morph, and joint compatible. So, no long haired kitties until we have an actual fur renderer at our disposal. = ML
You havent met Runtephant. She's the textbook 'cute kitten' -- this cat could pose for annoying posters and calendars. She was born to a mixed litter from a shorthair stray, and she has a shorthair body and face and all, but she has long hair. Actually, she has two types of long hair. I don't have a picture though because for some reaosn they never turn out (of her, the other two cats photograph fine). Audrey suggests she may, in fact, not really be a cat, but instead a carnivorous dust bunny. She doesn't meow (she occassionally makes a half-meow whisper when she's really freaked out. One. Never heard more than one at once, and I can count the number of times I have heard that on one hand). She does, however, purr so loud you think someone parked a Harley in your driveway. Of course what the cat will really want is a conforming hare. I'm guessing you meant to spell it that way B^) but I beg to differ. Hares are bigger than bunnies, and grown bunnies can usually kick the shit out of most housecats. I have a friend back in Philly who has two rabbits, Zoe and Josephine, and an adopted alley cat, Sarah. Sarah gets up on top of the furniture when the bunnies come out because she's been kicked before and has learned. One of these bunnies is half her size -- no Flemish Giants by any means.
Yes, I know a hare would be OTT for a cat, ours always took babies. Mind you, one of the visitors from along the road recently crouched down and started stalking across the lawn into the corner, from which a pheasant emerged (about six inches taller than cat), and our late cat was quite prepared to entertain predatory thoughts about a goose that landed on the lawn, at least until it started prodding her bottom with its beak.

_dodger - most cats can kick the $h!t out of anything short of a much bigger/heavier carnivore, and even then, they'll give most of the rest a run for the money. Or maybe Brit cats are just plain mean. :) You would be, if you lived here. :D Worldwide, Felis Cattus/Domesticus is the most successful predator.

Thank you, Mr. Lane, for giving us this first glimpse at the new Poser compatible DAZ cat. If it uses a mapping scheme similar to Victoria 3, it should look fantastic with minimal texture distortion. I can see that it uses the transparent outer shell for the eye like all other Mil' figures. I also notice you've included the brow whiskers as well as the ones sprouting from the muzzle. If I'm not mistaken, do I see a faint suggestion of claws just peeking from the toes, claws that will sprout and retract with the turn of a morph dial? I would be so annoying as to ask when it will debut. I'm just glad to see evidence of its progress. Thank you both for accepting this project. Sincerely, Bill P.S. Now, can I bribe you to fuse elements of its geometry with that of Victoria 3? We'd have the ultimate anthropomorphic felinoid!!! ;-)
