Even though the diagonals and horizontals are best showcased with the cropped image, and it works extremely well in the artistic sense, I like the full shot even more just because it gives me a better take on what was built so long ago, and I really love pictures reflecting the distant past (old stuff!).
I think I would have cropped the lower left of the image, just below the diagonal log, leaving the water above the pylons, the original image is really nice but the diagonal log is too close to being centered for my taste. The cropped image leaves me feeling a little closed in too, some water above would probably help that feeling though.
Yeah thanks for showing this as I said in my comments on the original image, both images have something so I like both as well.

I like both, but I really like the cropped version. For some reason...and remember this is just me, I love the effect of cropping lines so that there origin and end are unknown. I also like the abstraction, the division of space by such lines within a composition can be used to great effect, as it has been here. The one broken stump at the end gives a nice contrast to the regularity of the other lines. :-)>

During my last posts I've been doing some heavy cropping... This is cropping that I've done allready in the viewfinder. This is the way I've allways shot my pictures either it has been dance or otherwise.. But it's only in my last series that I've been doing this with the format 1 to 3 consistantly... I hope that you as I find this technique fun and so... I at least think that it gives some very intresting views.. The image above is the original photo that I posted at the link above!!
