Subject: Surface material problem

I have lots of downloaded extra props and figures, some of which were meant for Poser 4 not Poser 3 (I have P3) but I have the following problem with all of them, regardless: When I apply a surface material specifically to one part of the prop, the entire prop gets that material (and bump map). I can't figure out how to apply a different material to each part (eg. walls, roof, door of a house) although these separate parts are listed in the drop-down menu and I've tried doing them one at a time. How do I apply a different material to each part?

Look in the Materials Window and make sure the "Material Changes Apply to Entire Figure" checkbox is NOT checked. If it is checked, that could be what's causing the problem.

Yep, there's nothing else that could cause it. mac

I was under the impression that one-material-per-item was one of Poser 3's limitations.

Oops! I never used poser 3. Went straight from poser 2 to 4. mac
