Answers: 1. Buy Poser5 upgrade electronically, from Curious website. Cheapest alternative. $145 at the moment. Big DL, total of 700MB! All you need to do is to give a valid P4 serial no. as you purchase. 2. Yes, you just enter a new serial no, no nonsense. The number gets mailed to you. And it works fine for reinstalls. 3. Yes - at least my upgrade has been great so far. Possible exception: if you are running XP, there may be issues with P5. There have been some discussions about this. I think there is a recent one in the Poser Tech Forum. :] Fish
XP pro runs it fine - just turn off the cutesie stuff if you are limited on memory. When you first install P5 [to bypass the serial registration] - before running P5 program - run the updates and then you don't have to do the online register thing. I put together new machine and had bad motherboard so ended up installing XPpro 4 times and had to call microsoft to install OS but when I reinstalled for fourth time the P5, just updated with downloaded SR2.1 and wasn't required to do online register.

... for those who read this forum every day, but I am only a very occasional user of Poser (4). However, I like it and I think I am going to use it more often in the next time. So I was thinking of updating to Poser 5. Curious Labs ships the Update to my place (Germany) for 231 Euro (appr. $ 210), whereas Amazon.com has the full version for $ 199. That sounds quite interesting. (I'm fine with the english version since all ressources on the internet are english, too.) Second, on the Curious Labs homepage they say >In addition to fixes listed in the Read Me text file >for this updater, SR-2.1 bypasses the current >security measures found in Poser 5 Does that mean that I can install the programm by just entering a serial number, without this hardware registration or whatever it was? Anyway, do you generally recommend an update from 4 to 5? (I really would like to have a trial download to try out how it works, and IF everything works ;-) Thanks, Ernst Hammann
