Okay, you've already seen the Thingy-mased matrifying shuriken and the boot. Here's the environment. Now the only problem is modelling the human. I really hope I'll finish the scene in time.

The only Postwork at the moment is some minor color-contrast tweaking in PSP. This image rendered in 36 minutes on a res of 1280x960 with normal AA. However when I turned on Real ambience to get a nice GI/Radiosity feel, but even at 16 RPP it suddenly took 5 minutes for the first row of the first pass to render. What could cause such a dramatic increase in complexity? Real Ambience is complex, but this increase was rediculous(sp?) Any ideas what could speed up a Real Ambience render of this scene?

Nope, real ambience is a render hog. I had a simple flat color scene (no textures just colors) and with true ambience it take 10-15 minutes to render at a small size. Add soft shadows and blurry reflections it went up to over 3 hours.

Yeah, just the nature of the beast with True Ambience. Kinda comparable to radiosity or GI in (almost) all other programs. Actually, I don't know the technical specifics of what True Ambience does (byond what it can make your scene look like), if anyone knows...? Btw, LOVE the scene. `Course my thing is dirt and rust, so of course I love it. But, also the reddish glow coming from the stairs...very nice! AS

Oh you have got to get this all together before voting. Its looking so good, the textures are really good. And the scene has a feel to it. Don't worry about the true ambience for the challenge. I think it looks great already. JUST GET IT DONE! please. Ang

No matter what advanced options i turn on, the render time stays about the same. FOr example, at 36 rpp, no matter how many options i turn on it renders at the same speed. Good for me i guess!

Looking very good Rayraz. I'm a bit concerned though, where do those stairs lead too, the flaming pits of hell? 8) Catlin
