Subject: In search of the sun

Hopefully you old timers will get a kick out of this. I'm still new to Carrara and my previous scenes have been at night. Last night I get ready to work on the lighting and sky in my forest scene and start fiddling with sky controls. Not as nice as Bryce (my previous 3D experience) but workable for this scene. But where is the sunlight? I fiddle with 'sky light', move the sun all over the sky, try GI, search for help in the manual and on the web. Eventually, realization comes: in Carrara sky, is just sky. Not Sky+"sun light source". Sky != skylab. D'oh! I'm sad to say that took over an hour to figure out but I learned a few more things about Carrara along the way. Guess Bryce had me heavily conditioned ;-) Marc

there's a sun and a moon light too... I use them for sunsets and nightscapes when I need the light to match the sun or moon position in the sky.

Ahhh! I am becoming enlightened ;-). Thanks! I hadn't made it that far down the light list. Marc
