Subject: What is GetRight and where do I find it?

Larry-L ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 8:53 AM · edited Sun, 08 December 2024 at 3:29 PM

Hi All, I downloaded SR3 and it f***ed up my P5. In reading through the forum I had the same problem as Badco (corrupted download) and a suggestion was to get the SR3 through "GetRight". What is it and where can I find it? All help appreciated. Thanks, Larry

it is a download manager - can find it at http://www.getright.com/

Thanks Cruzan

Make sure you really want it first - it's full of spyware. Not too many other choices tho :o( Laurie

To late! Already did it. It did say it does not have spyware though, are they lying?

You could try Leechget, it's not bad. I used it for a while.

Download Ad Aware and check anyway. You might even detect some spyware not from GetRight.

I don't believe them when they say they DON'T have spyware. They have always been one of the worst perpetrators of spyware. I can't believe they'd change their spots now. Get AdAware and check. Laurie

Just checked their site. If it's true that they removed all the ads and spyware, then I guess 25 bucks isn't too much to ask if you use it. Me, I'd check it first to see if he's being completely honest. If there's anything in it, AdAware will probably catch it. If it's clean and you find it useful, then buy it if you want :o). Laurie

I use Getright all the time and I've run Adaware a bunch of times and it has never come up with anything from Getright....:>)

The registered version of Getright has no spyware, that I have ever found. And I'm ultraparanoid :) I found a nifty skin that makes it look like a rock ..yes this makes me happy grin Plus Getright is the resumer allowed by Poserstyle and PoserWorld, as it doesn't eat their bandwidth like 95% of the others.

Getright isn't 'loaded' with spyware, but it does offer to install Gator when you install it. So long as you don't do that you're fine, that's the only thing to look out for.

EsnRedshirt ( ) posted Sat, 10 May 2003 at 3:14 PM

Gator is a plague on the internet, along with Bonzai Buddy and all the other spyware programs. Getright -used- to be good, but I won't use a program that comes with spyware anymore, even if installation is optional. Thank God for Ad-Aware. BTW, I think WindowsXP supports auto-resume in at least some of its internet functions. Hmm, I need to look into that...

heyas; i use download accellerator plus, and i am rather happy with it. it serves ads in its downloading window; i don't think it has spyware stuff in with it. look for dap at tucows or c:net, etc.
