...I'm talkin' 'bout Poser 5! You know what I mean! Sorry, releaving frustration with bad humor. I've been working with Poser for 2.5 years, and rarely get frustrated any more, but this is grinding my cheese. Can anyone help? I'm trying to render a very simple dynamic hair animation. Every angle, every camera, every animation, I get a lovely grey window with nothing in it. Renders okay, but no movies. Tried render to separate window. Same thing. Tried render to big window, small window, same thing. I'm current burning CD-ROM's in an offering to the computer gods; I'll let you know if they answer. Using Firefly Prof renderer, Windows AVI codec, 30 frames, no camera movement, main camera (and others), P4 2.2GHz 1GRAM, 40GHD space left, no patience left.

Yup., didnt really need to click on the message to, um, get the message.;-) Is this with the latest patch, SR 3-- I hear they worked on animation some. Emily

Actually, it worked before SR3. It stopped working after I updated. If I hadn't already read threads where people have stated that they've done animation under SR3, I'd be pretty darned suspicious. As it is, I haven't ruled it out as the culprit.

Weird, because I know I've done animations with dynamic hair, clothes, and the new walk designer code, in both display mode and sketch mode; render mode does work, but takes a lot longer for some reason under SR3. What movie codec are you using? I can vouch that DivX works with SR3.

Does it work if you render it to a series of image files rather than an AVI? This would be a good test to eliminate if it's to do with the codec. Personally, I never render to AVI. I always render to images and create an AVI from them.

My understanding is that when an animation is rendered; the harddisk is hit hard - possibly try defrag/scandisk? I cant render with low mem laptop but sr3 on desktop will render but settings tried production firefly with raytrace, shadows and bucket 16 bounce 5 only. However, was a 690 frame animation and it did fine with png which I then import into flash and looked good (for flash ;-0). Havent tried avi.
