Subject: PoserWorld Clothing Suddenly Invisible??

pookah69 ( ) posted Thu, 29 May 2003 at 12:20 AM ยท edited Tue, 12 November 2024 at 11:32 PM

I've been using Poserworld props for a while, with no problem. Suddenly, tonight I chose a Poserworld dress from my library, and though it seems to select, and I can choose the item from my menu, it is absolutely INVISIBLE in the image. Suddenly, this is the case with several other Poserworld outfits, even those that I downloaded a while ago, and have never had a problem with. This is such a strange bug...has anybody else encountered this?

First thing to check is your RSR files if you are on Poser4....go into the PW or PWFW folder and delete any rsr files (poser will build new ones) that match the ones you have problems with then try them......its a bit of a mystery why poser sometimes does this but i've had files where you load mike pants and get a p4man hip loading LOL...another thing it may be if you are on a mac, are they parts of the V3-male suit? i messed up and made the file names to long...Steve

That's the RSRs in GeometriesPW and GeometriesPWFW, not those in LibrariesCharacterPW whatever.

I have absolutely no .rsr files in either the geometries or the character folder. Don't understand why this would be a suggested fix, as one would never put .rsr files in the geometry folder, right?? In fact, I convert my files using MacConverter after I download them. This makes the .rsr files disappear. I have never had a problem with my downloaded Poserworld files until last night. Steve Shanks, HELP!

Pc users with poser 4 have an RSR file in the geom folder its a fast loading version of the obj.....which files are they Pookah i have a suspicion it may be a, more than 30 characters, problem...did you use macinstaller?..Steve

Okay, I figured it out...two days ago, I decided to get "organized" and placed my .obj files for the poserworld 40's outfit and georgette dress in the pw geometries folder, rather than the pwfw folder. This is what caused the problem. Sorry.

Steve, Why ARE there two geometry folders for Poserworld stuff? What IS PWFW anyway--I'm guessing PoserWorld FairyWood, but what is its origin and why can't they all be consolidated for ease of filing?

steveshanks ( ) posted Fri, 30 May 2003 at 4:23 PM

yes it was when fairywoods was part of the site...they can be i guess but the reason we don't do it is time, if we went back and did every file we'd never get an update done for months ;o).....to do it you just hack a cr2 with a text editor and change the pwfw reference (there are 2) to read pw or the folder of your choice...actually doing it only take a few seconds its the resorting the zips would take us forever...Steve
