Subject: Wanting to Help, A Little Confused

White Raven ( ) posted Sat, 07 June 2003 at 3:40 AM ยท edited Sun, 03 November 2024 at 1:55 AM

I have a question about legality, I don't want to do anything wrong. If I bought Poser 4 for someone, did NOT open it or anything, then sent it to them after they paid me for what I spent, am I breaking any laws? I just want to be sure, and I'm not sure how all this works. I only want to be able to help people who can't get the software because they are in another country if I can. Thanks in advance, White Raven

I suspect they may technically be obliged to pay a customs duty for importing the commercial product. Just a guess though really dont have a clue on how it works with software.

there's a copyright forum here, and heaven knows we get the legal eagles in here. I don't see any problems other than it being a resale. As long as it wasn't registered (believe it or not, once upon a time I saw a sticker saying 'do not open until you have read the enclosed agreement'..;) by you, it shouldn't be that much of a problem. But listen on for further opinions/facts.

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

I don't see any difference than if someone sent you the money in advance and said, "Pick this up for me." It would be like sending someone out to the store to pick up an item for them, wouldn't it? Don't mind my drivel. I have Menopausal Blonde Disorder. LOL Melanie

Can't see why, its just like buying a gift except they pay you for it...Steve

I'm fairly sure that in many countries the recipient will get nailed for customs taxes. But as I live in the US .. I'm not certain.
