Is this within the realm of a intermiate poser user? Are there any tutorials out there?

Its really not that hard - use a modeling program. I use Rhino but there are certainly cheaper/free ones. Create yourself a square or circle. Remove a center circle for the head. Import into poser and clothify!

Poserfashion has many easy tutorials, she uses max for modeling but the tutorials can be followed in any modeling application just load a cube shape it to your figures body and clothify it in poser. I have been playing with this a bit check my latest images for examples of props (very simple ones) i have made and i don't have any clothing modelling experience.
