I'm putting mine on my site with link so you can hear the music and peruse the image....but for those that don't have web space, dunno...

I think I'm going to upload my music somewhere. Maybe here at 'Rosity or at a tripod acount or something. I first have to have one crucial photo and a lot of spare rendertime though.

I was wishing the same thing earlier but my chosen piece lasts about 15 minutes so I guess thats out but I did find a page on the web about Tallis, and there was a link to a short piece from the work if anyone wants to hear it. But Im not sure if this is the done thing. Pointing to another website could be thought of as bandwidth theft, couldn`t it?

Sambucus, check the link for your music, or do a search of 'classical midis' most of these are free to download, and I don't think copyright will be an issue for classical, we're not passing this music off as our compositions, however, for more comtempoary music, you can ask for permission from the artist if they're on the web, I asked Tangerine Dream if I could use a piece and they said 'sure', they just wanted credit and the details of use....

My first idea resulted in a 35.1 MB mp3. Didn't get an ideas for a really good image though. Now I'm back to 2 pieces of music and I can't decide wich to do yet. You won't get copyright issues with the composers, but the people playing the music and the studio that recorded it can still have a copyright on that specific file.

Except for the classical music composed in the 20th and 21st centuries. Like Aaron Copland's music, for example.

!!! Copyright exists in the recorded performance. You distribute an mp3 file of a Bach motet you are in trouble with the record company, never mind that Bach died 250 years ago.

Zhann ( ) posted Mon, 16 June 2003 at 7:06 PM

We are 'not' distributing, or redistributing the music. It is being used for illustrative purposes (could be considered 'educational')....
