The full PR is over in the Vue Forum. If you've been frustrated by the serialization issue with Poser 4 under Poser 5, this should make that problem go away. Best regards, Lynn Fredricks e-on software

Hmmm, but the hair and cloth room simulations will NOT be supported...so is there a point to it?

fretshredder ( ) posted Mon, 16 June 2003 at 1:59 PM

at any rate it's about darned time. Could never figure out why the hell it took so long (even AFTER CL removed that hairbrained protection scheme) THanks tho .. I for one am happy about this update since I do not have p4 :-)

Thats cool. Im sure youll love your poser figures inside Vue, but for those of us who have beenVueing poser figures (4 and 5) for a while already...whats new?

fretshredder ( ) posted Mon, 16 June 2003 at 2:24 PM

gaz: I hear 'ya! :-) I am actually waiting for support for the ability to (easily) use parts of my poser scene in Cinema4D ... but that isn't very "vue" related is it...so good luck to me I guess :-)

4.2 may have some other goodies, but we want to get this out before the end of the month if possible. This should provide some immediate relief for those who have Poser 5 but not Poser 4 installed. Best regards, Lynn Fredricks e-on software

Lynne-- "goodies" are always appreciated :-)

The biggest advantage I suppose will the ability to use Don and Judy and their kids in Vue scenes (they wouldn't import before) provided you use conforming clothes (if any) and prop based hair. I'll have to check it out.

gaz170170 ( ) posted Mon, 16 June 2003 at 4:58 PM

Tomsde, I can already import Don and Judy etc...and you can export cloths as OBJ, can you not? These import into Vue easily enough...

Here is a little test I just done. In poser 5, opened up Don figure and P5manOvercoat. Went to cloth room, clothified coat and ran simulation. Saved as PZ3. Opened up Vue, imported Don.PZ3, tweaked the materials a little and voila!

Don imports from P5

The intriguing part of that press release is the part where it says that Vue won't support the dynamic hair and cloth 'with this release'. I can't see how Vue could do the hair, but as the cloth is mesh deformation, we may see the dynamic clothing (and whatever else we clothify) in Vue...

why is the Mac version on sale when only Poser5 is for PC? I only have Poser 5 and have been waiting to buy Vue4, but everytime there is a coolio sale, haha I'm left out. oh well, good news that the patch is out, I'll look forward to it when I eventually do get Vue4, or Vue5 or maybe I'll wait for Vue6 (slight sarcasim).

Charlie_Tuna ( ) posted Mon, 16 June 2003 at 9:22 PM

P5 mac will be out most likely in the fall since CL says it will be GM this month.

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

Caly ( ) posted Mon, 16 June 2003 at 9:22 PM

The Mac version is probably on sale because Corel stated they will no longer Develop Bryce for the Mac.

YES...Finally!! Runs out the door.

Tomsde ( ) posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 10:35 AM

As far as I'm concerned, a good prop based wig looks more realistic than dynamic hair anyway. My limited attempts to use dynamic hair has made my models look like porcupines while simultaneously sucking the life out of my processor performance. I don't care if dynamic hair ever is exportable to Vue.

Dale B ( ) posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 1:31 PM

Yah, until it works better, me as well. But the dynamic cloth...drooooool..... Even if you had to do all your dynamics setup in P5, just being able to have a dress of cape ruffling in the wind...then add some of Vue's animated skies, some water animation.... Then again, if they ever -can- import the cloth dynamics, you could take a prop hairpiece and clothify specific parts to get things like locks blowing in the breeze, bangs shifting as a figure inclines the head...

Tomsde ( ) posted Tue, 17 June 2003 at 3:15 PM

Dale B, since Poser already import animations perhaps the solution would be to anitmate the background in Vue and add you Poser Figure animation on top of that. I'm wondering too if Vues Mover Plug-in that imports Poser animations would be able to handle those effects. I don't know, because I don't animate myself right now--but I'm sure its something they're working on.

Interesting you should say that. I'm planning to clothify one of my hair meshes this evening, just to see what happens. It has a geometry based on transmapped strips, so I think it might turn out well. If so, I'll be repeating the experiment on my transmapped mane for the Poser horse.

Dale B ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2003 at 4:09 AM

LD: Exactly. You'll have to make sure to nail down the parts you're trying to clothify, and it may even take a change in -how- transmapped hair is actually made (been thinking a skull cap that is there solely for collision detection purposes), but then again, Poser has been famous for having ways of doing things that were never intended... :D
