I'm sure solutions to this have been posted somewhere, but I can't seem to find them. It renders with varying degrees of this effect in both firefly and p4 renderers in poser 5.

I assume it's not supposed to be checkered? Could be double-sided faces. Apply a displacement map to the material, and set the Displacement channel's strength to a very low value, like 0.001. Make certain you have displacement enabled in your Render Options. This only works with the Firefly renderer.

Yeah, afraid it's not supposed to be checkered. It's a nice effect if I had some control over it, but without that control it's rather annoying. I'll look into displacement when I get home tonight.

Yes, just as Little Dragon says - if you want to render it in Poser 5, it must be in firefly with displacement enabled. In the materials room you have to select the material and plug some source into the displacement node (generally the object's texture but even a simple color will do), then set the displacement value to 0.001 - some people have said it can be set lower, but I have found that .001 is about the lowest I can go to have it work.
