Eh? I found it a load of codswallop. I dunno, maybe it's because my brain is so far left-field anyways, but I don't see those pics they've posted as being abstract.... I see a macro of a flower, paint and blade of grass with water..... they're macro shots, not abstract....they're not out of the ordinary at all. So, to create an abstract shot I just need to spend the day with my camera on Macro mode? The branch with the moon behind isn't abstract to me, either - it's just a picture of a branch with the moon behind it. Nothing abstract about that. Actually it looks like wheat or something..... ok, the abstract thing could be the position he was in to get the photo...... The reflection is obviously just that (where he's changed position to make the reflection fit where he wanted it to) and the sports shot - well, just a blurred background. Woopee. I may be having difficulty with abstract because of the conditions I'm imposing on the very term 'abstract' - I'm looking for something out of the ordinary to be abstract. With art it's easy. You create the abstraction, you have full control over it - thus the little red circle and Big Black Box are created to be an abstract picture - with photography I think it's something you really have to work at finding........ Just my 2 pennyworth. (",)

browsing the web for "abstract photography" just to see what other folks interpret it and came across this item. gives a basic thought about it... http://www.apogeephoto.com/nov2000/abstract.shtml IMHO, I thought it was interesting.... Jack
