No idea here either, maybe it could have something to do with the fact that 227 years ago 13 colonies of HRH George III 'strongly suggested' that George 'take your rule and shove it, we ain't listening to you no more', to paraphrase a country song :-)

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

Isn't Guy Fawkes Day pretty much the same thing in practical terms? Or don't Brits celebrate that any more?
