Subject: Daz's 'Stormguards' users - a question!

spyder97526 ( ) posted Sat, 12 July 2003 at 11:25 PM · edited Thu, 25 July 2024 at 7:34 AM

Ok, im having troubles using Daz3D's storguards accesories, and I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems... Im trying to make 'premade' setups for characters for a comic idea I have, and I want to take all of my characters, and outfit them with their stormguards uniforms. Here is my dilemma - Every time I set the character up with their full gear and save the pz3, then reopen the file later to work on it, they are opened with almost no gear! I'll open vicky after she has been fully outfitted, and she will only have boots and elbow pads. I look for the rest of the gear, and its listed in the character drop-down, but they dont show up. The geometry files are in the right spots, because, after all, its Daz's installer... Any suggestions? I even reinstalled the stormguards set twice, and still no fix... dangit, im stumped

Did you download the updates for Stormguards? I've used them several times and have had no problems like you described... but I'm using the updates.

LOL no, I had no idea that they had an update...where can you get that?

spyder97526 ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 1:30 AM

Nevermind, found it in the links section in Arcana Thanks!

I don't save them as a pz3, I put everything on the character I think I'm going to use for a particular scene, and them pull them into character library with Whole Group selected. Even the hair comes back in with them if you do it this way. That way all the props and textures I want for the particular character are ready to go and I don't have to go looking all over to recreate him/her. Marque

It sounds like maybe you need to kill some geometry RSR files? Find them in your geometry folder and delete them and see if that helps. (I want to bitch-slap the person who made that bug possible. Could have just opened the damn things as read-only when they exist and not had to worry about corrupting them, but no...)

Thanks Marque, I tried to do it the same way you do, and it saved the character list as a 'whole group', but then when I try to load the group, this is what I get. Still not showing some of the main parts, but they are listed there in the heirarchy. Im frustrated enought to format this drive I have poser on, but reinstalling a runtime to the tune of 4 gigs in size is not my idea of fun....HELP! And FyreSpiryt - I checked in the goemetries folder and there were just obj files, no rsr's.

Also, I looked on the site for the Stormguards update, but all I got was the page that lists what items were updated when, not the actual place to get the update. Anyone know where to get that, or since it was probably free, could someone send it to me? Thanks!

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 3:20 PM

Normally the updates are on the product page .. Can't send it to you but you can find them on the page that you originlly got the item

spyder97526 ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 3:49 PM

Thats just it, i went to the product page and the updates that are ususally on the bottom where you download the texture templates, I looked for the updates for the stormguards main set and for the sci-fi textures, and neither of them have the updates any more. Im confused, so should I email Daz and ask where the updates are? They used to be there I know because I have updated other products that I had and the updates were on the bottom, but this time no go. I even went thru the updates section in the arcana page and tried to find updates for most of items listed there to no avail - none of tehm I looked at had the updates any more. Sorry, I'm stumped.

The updates for StormGuards like you said is not on the product page. I would email Daz and also email the broker of the item. the broker may be able to send you the update or advice. it's the weekend so Daz probably wouldn't get back to you til early next week. though they are good about responces.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 5:04 PM

Sometimes the updates are more intense and require a link to be sent.

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 5:51 PM

And sometimes the updates don't work, no matter what you do. I have been unfortunate enough to try and apply a couple of updates and get the dreaded "necessary file not found" message only to be told by Daz that it's looking for a specific cr2 file which is exactly where it's supposed to be and the silly thing STILL can't find it, no matter what I do. ARGGGGHHHHH!!! Kate (who hates updates and wishes they'd just get it right the first time) P.S. I haven't been able to install the stormguards updates yet because of this problem. sigh

Hi spyder, Sorry I didn't see this post sooner=( I've uploaded the update to my site for you or anyone else that requires it....at the included link. The problem lies in the cr2 where it references the obj geometry. The first reference is correct and looks in the Stormguards folder but the second reference looks in the Sentinels folder (last minute product name change)..that's why when you save as a pz3, it can no longer find the geometry when you reload the file since the pz3 will save the second reference (Sentinels) If you have further problems or questions, please feel free to email me at lmercado@shaw.ca Thanks, Lourdes

Lourdes my good man, you are a GOD! THANK YOU! hehehe Now I can give my comic a go and see whether or not I can make a sort of aliens/starship troopers scene. Now, all I need are a few good robots.... Thanks!!!
