First let me say "Nice flowers"! And Thanks!!

Now let me ask:
How can I maintain a smooth surface and still keep the file size down?
At one point the chain on this Candelier I'm making for my pirate's Captain's cabin shot the file size up to 17Meg! I re-made the tarus in Wings3D and got it down to 12megs now but....
Got any pointers you can share?

Can you tell me the file size for just one of the chain links? ... ideally in .obj form? It may be that the type of oval taurus used can improved. Gerald

Here's the comparison I get from the Wings3D primative and my Lathed tarus in Anim8or. I can only find where to select the 'Sections' in Anim8or but you have a lot less faces then mine? or are you not Lathing it? Anim9or = 78K Wings3D = 13K Poppi; you better hide or you might get plucked and put a Vicky's vase ;p

i'm running away, fast, now.....omg to be put in a vicki temple vase...fate, cruel fate, worse than death. and, yes, wings is a wonderful program. i like it a ton, and, i use lightwave, as well. it stacks up real well before the pricey apps. running, actually, scurrying now...takin' cover among the dandelions :*)

Thank you for the poppies--they're beautiful :) And thank you even more for making the fallen petals, which almost no other modelers think to make, even though they'd be wonderful to use on the ground or on a table around a vase. In nature you rarely see a bunch of flowers that are all in their prime at the same time...instead you see ones at all stages of life, including dropped petals. Good job!

I've made the chain link by bending and mirroring a cylinder (without end caps). I did it this way because the object is oval rather than circular. Also, I find it easier to control the polygon number.

This is the smallest practical one I could make ... from an 8 sided cylinder ... 18KB. 6,5,4,& 3 sided cylinders tended to look a little "clunky" !

I'll use it to make a ball and chain !
