Subject: cant texture map imported objects...why???

please help if u can...i have created a hair model with amapi, saved it out as a 3ds file, loaded it into P4, but it will not accept any textures i apply to it. i understand it needs UV info, but how do you get that??, I also exported it out as an obj. file and re imported it back in , because the book says obj. files carry the uv info...p.s. i am a begineer at this. Thanks in advance

I don't know anything about Amapi, but it sounds like you need to load the .obj file into UVMapper, and create a new UVMap, then save both the model and the texture map (which will be a flattened wireframe picture of your model. You may have to try the different UVMapping modes to figure out which one will work best. Then you can load the Texture map .BMP UVMapper saved into a paint program to color your texture, and you can apply that picture to your new object in the materials editor in Poser.
