"bryce tree object" Just alt-click the tree crate icon and select your saved shape. Wait a minute an it will generate your tree. BTO files are smaller than obp files but they don;t save your material information. So when you re-create your tree from a bto file, it will have the same shape but it might not have the same materials - so you should save them in your presets.
Thank you, Madmaxbr5, if it doesn't work without the patch I'll save it as an object, for some reason I have the choice of doing things with trees (patch installed)or doing things in the DTE (no patch but all the DTE menus work), but not both,....sigh

I managed to save a tree as a .bto file... and it's in the preset folder with the other .btos....now, how are these d*mn things accessed? It doesn't show on the list of trees in the Tree Lab, those come from the 'treeshapes' directory in Bryce (and I'm working on cracking that nut to save a shape there so it does show on the list)...so what is a .bto? Any help appreciated.....long day.....
