Hi all. This is my first try with fake HDRI in Bryce. Thax a lot to Ornlu and Drac for their tips and help. Any comment and/or advice is very welcomed. I posted a better-looking, higher res version in my gallery (just click on the link above). And, of course, thanx a lot to Susan (eelie) that sent me her beautiful shells as a birthday gift a couple of weeks ago. Thanx, Susan! :) S.

Great pic stefano. Just one thing I wonder about HDRI and DOF though (but that I couldn't get right myself):

"Shouldn't the reflections in the shells have the DOF too as it is a reflection of something in the distance?"

I commented below and in the gallery, Stefano, but I'll do it again here. I still love this! :o) 'Course, I'm also a sucker for seashells.... Great picture!

Thanx a lot. Dunno why, but an earlier reply I made yesterday disappeared. Bah... it was something like this: @Kylara: I really don't know. Istinct tells me that no, the reflections in the shells are close to the camera, so in a real photography they should be in focus. But I'm only a hobbyist photographer, so I can't know it for certain. Have to think about it :) @all: Thanx a lot for your appreciation, both here and in the gallery. It was so much fun that this won't be my last. I'm planning to use this again. S.

I don't agree with you stefano...
Take a mirror on the wall for instance and look from closeby at the surface of the mirror. The mirror itself is then "in focus". Meaning that you can see little scratches and imperfections on the surface of the mirror.
On the other hand... The reflection of the mirror is still at a distance and you can't get that one sharp unless you focus on it (but then you will lose the focus on the surface of the mirror)

Maybe you're right. Sounds illogical to me, but, as I said, I'm not a photographer. I'm going to dig out the Nikon and make some tries :) S.
