I do not understand, when I create the scene and I add all the textures done in DTE, the time to render does not exceed the 20 minutes (1024x768/premium antialiasing) but when I put this texture(the red aqua texture flowing)made with pure metaballs, the render time goes to a DAY to finish!!! can be done something to render certain elements to an inferior quality? let us everything with premium and one without antialiasing? or perhaps that is not problem? the link is for go to the final render (the previous post. something about DTE contest).

thanks for your help!!

There was a key-combination to turn AA on or off for specific objects. I think it went like this: Select the object you wish not to AntiAliase and go to the object atributes. Then press the CTRL-SHIFT and click on the little X icon. I could be wrong on the key-combination though. You can also delete the object in the premium-render and then make a second render with the aqua texture object at normal settings. then you can mask the aqua object in in Photoshop or PSP or a similar program.

I think it's just holding shift and clicking x. And in my eyes, a standard render is better than a premium, but art is the best. I got lots of artifacts in a premium render that weren't in the default with aa. And just so you know, Metaballs + transparent material = HELL to render... why I try to stay away from that at all costs in my metaball designs.

metaballs take a long time to render, as well.

I never had artifacts using premium. Did have artifacts when I used soft-shadows and glass in normal and fine-art mode, but with premium softshadows the artifacts where gone.

Nonono, to turn off anti-aliasing for a certain object, select it and press ctrl-e to go to the object attributes,. Hold ctrl and shift, and press the checkmark.

I think antevark is right. I never use the option so the only way I remember it is by reading it in the forum every once in a while.

Turning off AA won't work on metaballs.

D'oh! Gotta wake up... I spent half an hour showing jasonmit how to composite because it didn't work on metaballs! gets a cup of coffee
