Subject: Should I get Victoria 3 or Stephanie?

tedbragg ( ) posted Wed, 30 July 2003 at 6:05 PM · edited Sat, 20 July 2024 at 6:12 AM

About to buy one of these high-end models, but I'm stumped as to which one. I use Poser to make layouts for painting references. I do alot of sci-fi and fantasy. however, I like Steph's muscular morphs...does Vicky have bodybuilder/fitness/fantasy body morphs? Haven't been to the Daz site inawhile, so I may find everything...but I wanted everyone's feedback first. Once I heard Mike mesh was based on Victoria. Is there a morph that can turn Vicky into Mike? That would be cool, two figures for the price of one!

The Stephanie mesh was based on Mike. Victoria was not based on Mike. Victoria 3 has a morph pack that gives all sorts of muscles and a male version.

Seeing how I'm doing alot of Dungeons and Dragons styled work these days, maybe an armor pack would be nice. Does Vic or Steph have the better packs? Looking for various types (again, I should just shop around I guess) like Myrian, Callisto (Xena) and such

Vicki has more armour. check over at RuntimeDNA.com for what they have available, large selection. also here in marketplace. if you buy Vicki2 you can upgrade to Vicki3 at a discount later on, just a thought. can't do this with Steph though. I have Mike 2, Vicki2, Vicki3, and steph. I rarely use Steph anymore but that's just me. just another opinion in the grand thingamabob. :)

If you want to buy just one female figure with a lot of versatility, go for V3. Otherwise, I'd suggest you buy both. I have V2, V3, and Steph, and they are all good figures in their own ways. Steph and V2 don't bend nearly as well as V3, and they are lower poly models. Steph can look really rough round the edges at times, but is usually ok.

Anything that fits Victoria 1 or 2 will almost always fit Stephanie. I've not found anything yet that DIDN'T fit Stephanie, but I'm sure there must be a garment somewhere that doesn't. I've yet to find it. So there are TONS of armor and clothing available, simply because V1 has been around forever, and people have been making clothes for her forever. Lots of free stuff, too.

Steph is kind of my personal favorite. She's under-used, partly because her morphs are limited in their scope. But with a few custom tweaks, she's a knockout.

The link above is a Steph character package, Marcelia, is in my store. In the pic, she's the one in pink with the wild hair. The other three are of another Steph character package I'm working on.

I like her more because she's used less. So my pics don't have the 'same old same old' flavor.

I have them all too. I don't use Steph as much now with V3, but she does have a differnt flavour to her. It would depend on how much you want to spend. You would need to get the Head and Body packs to make V3 work right, worth it though. Steph is complete and able to use all of V2's stuff.

I've just recently started using Stephanie again-- got bogged down with V3's polys, they're too high to do a lrge scene. Stephanie has access to tons of armour-- all the Vicki stuff fits her-- only problem is Steph is a little smaller, narrower waist, not a problem with armour usually. At Rdna alone there are two super armour--one plate and one leather-- also excellent fantasy armours like bone armour set which is really killer. Here an excellent value is the Armor of the Ancients by caleb68-- plate armour for Mike and Vicki/Steph. BatLabs did a great combo lingerie and armour set up for all the Vickies. Stephanie is a bit brittle in poses, she breaks easily around the knees, elbows and shoulders. If you are adverse to doing postwork, this would not make you happy. I don't mind, a bit of blur and smudge takes care of it. And she looks significently different from Vicki-- she's angular and she lights well too. Emily

For bang for the buck- get v2 Unless you have a LOT of ram and megahertz to spare avoid V3 Steph is good but underdeveloped as far as clothing and such. Get V2 :)

Thanks guys. I've settled on V2. I don't do final rendering using the models, just layout refs. I don't have the time or patience to sit thru renders and mess with lighting, etc. I just want a figure spit out the printer so I can tack it next to my drawing easel! :-) V2 has a TON of great armour and hair. Thanks again!
