Hey guys, it's your favourite newbie again. I have seen people who make really cool hair. I have purchased Poser 4 but the default hair in it isn't nearly as detailed as i have seen in other people's work. I was hoping if anyone could tell me how i can make my own hair just as good as other ppls. BTW i have also got V3 but it just spams out Poser 4 and some of the things there won't load. What's with that and what can i do with it?

Check out Kozaburo's hair at the link above. Kozaburo is one of the reigning champions of realistic hair, and he's kind enough to provide it for free.

Is Poser 4 patched to 4.03 (it must be, if it's new, but just checking)? How much RAM do you have, and are you trying to inject all of the V3 morphs at once (or have you even got that far)?

Koz also has a tute on his site that shows how he makes his hair props. It requires a modelling program of some kind and a paint program like Photoshop, but it's pretty detailed in explaining the process.

The patch is at Curious Labs website somewhere, but my Poser 4 is at least a couple of years old and came pre-patched (which is why I don't know where the patch is) - where did you buy yours?

I got replacement disks for my Poser from Curious Labs under two years ago, ages after I bought it-- they didn't come patched. It may be the same situation here. Happypuppy, I don't make hair, I buy it or download it for free- there is a ton of god looking hair out here for nothing. Kozaburo's Digital Babes site is one place, Maya Studios is the other-- I would do a search for Maya in our Free stuff and you'll see. Not all of Maya's has a Posette fit, but play with it and it'll work. Emily

I downloaded that stuff though, a little bit ago, with the 4.03 patch, and it couldn't read the hair. It was in all of the proper folders, but instead of actual hair, it gave me a kind of... pixel guess of where the hair outlines should be.

Did you try rendering? Your pixel guess sounds like Poser delightful transparency preview (you can also, with the hair selected, go to View>Element style>Cartoon to get a solid preview, but that shows stuff that will be invisible when rendered).
