Is there any way to add more Families colors to the default amount which is 25 - i know you can customize the colors - (big shit) but I am doing a large project and ran out, anyone know or have any suggestions. I am also using regular grouping, But if I ungroup all, that goes out the window roch222

I don't know exactly what kind of a project you're doing, but for me, when i'm working on a complex image with lots of objects, I use multiple scene files and do everything seperatly until the end when I'm ready to put it all together. that way I don't run out of families, and it makes it a bit easier. hope this will work for you image. brholte

brholte , I have a hard tme working with multiple scenes - I am working on a complete furnished Loft and I can work on each room as a separate project - but there are so many objects in each room etc...and working with the families thing is the only thing that keeps me from the rubber room - roch222

When I've finished working on one aspect of a pic I cancel out that particular family colour and return it to default. This cuts out the need for extra colours...(obviously)and stops me becoming blinded by the different families. I find the colours can be quite glaring or difficult to see, especially when working with complex wireframes.

b- that a good idea but I can save the selected family group with it family color to a new scene in case i need to fiddle I wonder if i use a custom color - save as a new scene and then merge with original scene, would it get imported in the default color or keep its color hummmmmm, going to do an experiment see ya later thanks roch222

The allotted amount of families is 25 and that's all you get. But basically you only have 22, default, lights and camera, automatically take up 3. What are you using the families for? there may be another solution.

StephenRay, actually you can change the family for the camera, lights, etc. I automatically change the camera (and anything I think I won't need to family) to the default. That leaves the camera's slot open to other objects.

There's another one default family, for trees and rocks. So there are 4 already taken by default.

I'm with Roch222 on this one. It's crazy but I think they really never thought anyone would do with Bryce what we do with it. I've never gotten past the family limit...
