Hi all, A few questions for a PC configuration under XP pro : - is 2Go RAM useful vs. 1 Go ? - is a "profesionnal video card" (Quadro/fireGL) useful under C3 vs. "standard video card" (Radeon 9800) - real advantage of having dual-CPU ? Thanks for your advices.... Pete

  1. Yes, the more memory, the better. Especially when rendering large images, using new plants or geometry generating plugins like anything grooves. 2.Not really... They may be more robust and have better support, but they are not necessarily faster. They are typically faster in line-antialiasing, overlays etc. But you really don't need overlays with carrara. Save 600$ between firegl x2 and radeon 9800 pro and use them for extra memory and decent video-editor. You won't regret. 3. In normal use, like when constructing scene in assembly room, not much. But if, or rather when, you are also using photoshop at the same time, the difference is huge. System is much more responsive and you can do many things at once. Maybe render video effects in premiere and model at the same time. Without 2 procs, i wouldn't recommend. When rendering final images from carrara, the dual processor isa bout twice as fast as single processor configuration as long as both processors have access to enough memory. poppari
