Subject: Is There a Simplier Way to Align Texture Maps

I am tring to map pictures as textures for the first time. I have Vue 4.12. I took photos of the graphics on a whole bunch of buttons and dials. I now need to accurately align them and scale them so they map onto their cooresponding shapes. The only way I have come up with is very time consuming. I sample render (just the object of interest), open the texture editor and type in new scale or offset values, exit the editor and re-render. Then I do it again and again and again.... Is there an easier way? Is there a trick in preparing the pictures that helps? Is there a way to know the best picture resolution to use other than trial and error? I hope someone cleverer than I has licked this problem. AVARA

Are they simple shapes, cause if they are and they are object models I would suggest you map them in UV mapper, import your models and apply the maps....how did you get these buttons and dials in Vue, did you create them there? Sharen

(First replay attempt appears to have been lost) Thanks for your help. The collection of shapes are all built and aligned in Humapatch and exported over as a DFX file. (The only way I have found to prevent the objects from bein merged.) Some shapes are simple beveled cylinders with nice flat surfaces for applying the photo. Others are 3D blobs needing the graphic and wraparound leather grain texture. I visited the UV Mapper Site and see that it uses OBJ files. I worry that to it will require me to import objects separately and reconstruct them in Vue. That could be as bad as the problem I started with. Thanks again, AVARA

Well I tried UVMapper and got nowhere. Obviously I did something wrong. I practiced with the UVMapper tutorial the that uses a fireplace grate. Once I imported the OBJ file into VUE it had no texture assigned. I tried to assign it the BMP I made, but nothing was to scale. Colors of the grate showed up on the logs. HELP AVARA
