Hello, I normaly do all my props by importing an obj, setting up size and materials and press the "add to library" button. This works fine. Now I read there is a way to keep the obj external and put it in the "geometries" folder . How can I do this ??

Holli, Apart from 'How can I do this?' you might also want to ask 'Why should I do this?'. It depends a lot on what you're doing, but there are several good reasons for doing it. One is that the props load faster because poser creates a .rsr (resource) file in Geometries for each obj. So most of the information is already in there and poser can read it faster than reading the pp2 file. Another is that if you want to change mapping, you can remap the geom obj, delete the rsr and reload your prop without having to re-import it and add it to the library again. This is especially useful if you've already added morphs to it. You'd have to do it all again. There are a few other reasons too. Some sites will only sell props with external geometry. You can do other tricks like switching or alternate geometry with external obj props. And generally, it's just more professional and good to learn. Here's a quick rundown on what to do. 1. Open the pp2 file in a text editor 2. Change the lines { version { number 4.01 } prop arrow { geomCustom { numbVerts 44 numbTVerts 0 more lines here....... f 33 29 13 f 13 15 33 } } to this { version { number 4.01 } prop arrow { storageOffset 0 0.3487 0 objFileGeom 0 0 :Runtime:Geometries:props:arrow.obj } Then resave the pp2 file and place the obj in the correct Geometries folder. Easy. mac

Other good reasons to do this... - since the .obj file is externally 'referenced', it does not add the size of the .obj to any .cr2s or .pz3 files that have that prop in them. - if the .obj file is seperate, users can easlily load it into other apps (bryce, vue, etc). - as partially mentioned above, it makes it really easy to do continued development/updates by just replacing the .obj file (and deleting the .rsr file). ...btw, Kattman's PoserWizard (marketplace) has an OBJ-Ripper wizard in it that will do the above steps for you.
