..aaah!...I have missunderstood. I was thought Ray was refering to creating the source procedurals that are the basis of the DTE. I just don't believe that the preset procedurals in the library are the end of the matter and would very much like to find more information on how they are generated. Sorry Ray, about the confusion over terminology! Cheers!
Created from scratch! ...you big tease you!...give me a clue as to how one would start with a clean slate?...and while you are at it!, if I was to use the import facility, what would I be importing?. How does one create a procedural tex from nothing and bring it into Bryce as something completly new, that is!, not a re-hash or a product of the random generator? Am I missing something here as to what is possible? Cheers Mister!
I'll make a tut tomorrow. Basically with making a new one from scratch I mean that I go into the noise and/or phase menu (you can enter it with the button at the top-left of the slider) and I chose a type of noise I want, I chose a type and a mode and I set the number of octaves, the direction, the frequency. and then you change the filter formula's and variables. There's lot's to play with. To create an empty DTE you set every option you can to none or nothing and the rest to standard or combine. And then you start from there.

Thanks there Ray! I shall have a go with what you say here. By the by!, is there just a basic number of types of noise that can be created.?. Looking forward very much to your tut, this subject has me hooked till I understand the outer limits of what I can do create unique textures beyond what is provided within the Bryce labs. The render is 60% finished. My firewall gave a message and put itself on high-priority. Bryce was rendering really slow. I was watching Mutant X (this episode had a scene with the crappiest render of a power generator I've ever seen) and a couple of my other favourite TV-series. When I came back I noticed that bryce had been rendering at only 10% of the actual CPU-power for the past two hours.

The tut tells about the noise types, the mode option, the octaves, the frequency, the rotation and the filter option. Including a bit of inside info on how I think those things work. At the end of the tut you'll have a nice procedural wich is totally different from the ones in the default libraries. And you'll have a blue metallic mat that makes use of it.

What's this I hear about you creating your own "procedurals" in Bryce? hmm?... I feel sure this is information that should be shared out amongst us all! I have been trying to find out how to do this for ages and all along you aint said a dickybird! ...fess up please...how'd you do it?...
