Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 13 6:58 am)
Have you updated to Vue 4.12? Check the e-on website for the update. I use Poser 4.03, not ProPack, so I don't know if that presents an additional problem, but I imported 2 V3 characters into an image yesterday with no problem. Maybe Guitta can help.
An interesting twist on this topic: Kozaburo's messy hair renders OK when imported into Vue from Poser 4, but not when the pz3 is saved from Poser 5 (Mac). The prop's there, but no texture or trans maps. Guess I won't throw the old Poser away anytime soon! The V3 figures wearing the hair import and render fine, by the way. pdg
I have yet to get 4.12 because I can't login, etc. at the Vue site. I have sent several emails to tech support, but nothing yet. I have a cable modem and other websites seem to be working fine for me so I can't understand what the Vue website problem is, except some weird Java code or something that my own security settings don't like. Hopefully I can get direct email support since I gave them my VUE serial number and they can look me up. I bought VUE 2 from them DIRECTLY (sent from Paris, before they had the Oregon operation). Since I'm using 4.11 NOW, I have to wonder- is this REALLY going to make a difference with V3? I can load 20-30 MB 3DS files into VUE now and render without a problem. In fact I use VUE much more for 3D Models than Vicky scenes. The V3's I'm trying to load now are around 12-15MB - NOT huge by my standards.
I've re-installed Vue 4.10 in my C-Drive directory and re-pointed it my Poser.exe file and it is loading V3 fine now. So it isn't an update requirement, but maybe because Vue couldn't handle being down on my huge E drive (260 GB) Maybe its just happier in C for some reason. I have four Poser folders too (Animals, Mil People, P4 People and Scenes) and it may have gotten lost their too, so re-pointing after installation seemed to work. With huge harddrives, Poser collections, etc. this all gets increasingly more complicated all the time. I've already realized I need to create at least two more Poser folders, one devoted just to V3 since she demands so much space and personal attention. Women! Can't live with them, Can't live without them!
I for one don't use P5. Still happy with P4-Pro-Pack. I also threw out OpenGL after a couple of frustrating days when Vue 4 first came out. It never worked for me, and I have a high-end 128-MB Radeon card which seems to run other OpenGL stuff just fine. And I'm on a big "no shadows" kick with all my Vue lights. You can see a big difference especially when you render seascapes and ocean waves. Shadows take up enormous amounts of calculations- yet Vue gives you shadows ANYWAY-(with shadows un-checked) it's just that they are softer-which works fine for me, especially for "beautiful skin" renders of Vicky, etc. Question: Is there any Re-Pointing Option with Vue after you have done the initial Poser.Exe point?- Like if I make a new V3-Only Poser Folder, do I have to RE-INSTALL Vue to get it to look there- or, what?
Does Windows 2000 Indexing Service help Poser or Vue to find stuff- like texture maps? I like Win2000's search function for finding texture maps among my thousands of folders on about 700 GB of total drive space- but of course it helps to point the search in the mostly LIKELY drive or folder to get the fastest results, but it still is very good at finding stuff. But- does the Indexing Service help to really CLUE Vue into where to start looking- or does Vue not notice this kind of indexing? Anyone know?
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!

I am using Poser 4 Propac and have been trying most of the day to import V3 into Vue without success. I am importing it as a PZ file but when it loads in Vue all that appears is the body and the eyes (no head or hair) and also the textures come out like she has been dipped in rude black oil. Help PLEASE!!!
