Can anyone reccomend a good file list maker, I have 2000 files I need to list for a readme, and I reaaaaaally don't want to type them by hand, prefereably free?

Put all the files into 1 folder, then go to the start menu and then run. Type in "command", noquotes. Open up the folder that has the 2000 files, and then type into the command line "cd ". Now type in "ls". That will list all of the files for you. All noquotes.

Where does it list them, in notepad? This will need to be included in a product zip....I guess I'm unclear...

Do a search for your files. Select all and copy to a spreadsheet like Excell. Paste and the lot will be listed in neat colums. I've done this kind of thing with a friends karaoke catalgue. Works just fine. Now you can command an alphabetize or sort. Copy and then paste into your word processor document..

open up a command prompt window
go to the folder that contains the files
type: dir /B/N > anythingyouwanttocallit.txt

then open the anythingyouwanttocallit.txt file with notepad.

Found a nifty little utility here in freestuff, with two clics you have a list! ready to go, but thanks everyone, got my files listed and on CD. Actually the thing was so easy to use I ended up organizing my computer! If your interested, it's by laetia, FileListMaker, and it's in freestuff. Did my .wavs, mp3s, midis, .jpgs the whole kaboodle....
