WHat version of Poser are you using ?

Riddokun ( ) posted Sat, 23 August 2003 at 10:26 AM

i am using version 4 without propack (but patched to 4.03 i guess or something like that).. means i cannot use any poser5 material stuff and things like that... sorry i forgot to menton it i did not remember how it could be relevant in this case :( i tried to tweak and lighten a metal reflection map i had, to make it very lightly contrasted and with small touches of colors (light pink/green/blue) but did not work :(

Have you got any reference photo of what you're trying to achieve ? I don't understand what kind of things you're after (sorry, english is my 2nd language...) Are you after some sort of "pearl" or "jewellery" effect, or a "coral reef" effect ?

I have something I use to do reflections in bubbles and some gems that has multicolors if you wish it..it helps abit in pearls you just have to tweek out the amount of reflections etc. just IM me if you wish it

Nacre/mother-of-pearl comes in various textures and colors. Are you after the look you get inside sea shells such as Abalone (blues and greens with some dark lines), or the peachy coral tints inside Conch shells, or the pearl surface itself (usually pinkish, sometimes pale yellow or grey or even blue). I'll see if I can dig up a reference picture, but it will help if we know what sort of thing you are texturing. Coral the animal(?) is a different thing from coral the color (a reddish shade) Carolly

well if you want an overview/look of what i need, lets say it is a light/white shaded reflect kind, with smalls amounts of light toned blue, green and pink. in fact what i need is something similar to a reflection texture often used in DOA Xtreme beach volley for the reflects of many suits, such as Athene one. hope it can help people figuring out what i have in mind. I am working on the athene, just to say, and nearly finished it, but the reflect is still missing and it does not please me :( also i saw that this kind of material/reflect was used in other swimsuits designs of the game i could reproduce by texture and transparency given the actual Mayadoll wardrobe available, so it would makes me sad if i couldn't achieve a totally faithfull result :( missing reflexion map really ^pains me so far :( thanx to all and you kind help and support

I did a google/images search under "nacre" (1800 items, but I only dug in 26 pages) and found mostly images of what can be done with the stuff: buttons, knife-handles, fans, jewelry, but also some scientific images (well, *I'm* not going to cut a nice pearl in half!) and close-ups of the shell interiors. Here are a couple of the nicer ones. I'd suggest taking a shell interior of the colors you want (green-blue or rose-pink-orange or whatever, and bringing it into PhotoShop or similar program where you can make it a tiling pattern. I might do this just to have it on hand (never know when I might need an inlaid table model). Are any of these close to what you need? Carolly

thank you all for your help.. i think so far i wil leave this aside for the moment instead of getting stuck on this forever and continue my works... but i will try one or two tricks i may try a shell interior, stretch it to enlarge it by force and make it as a "sphere" uvmap 1st then correct it with filters and use it as reflection map :( thanx to all...I'll keep you informed if i manage to get it right
