Subject: Idea for new material property: "leave as mesh, don't render"

It would me useful if a part could be set to a property "do not render solid but leave as mesh"; the color channel would state the color of the mesh. This would give a way economical in polygons to make a grating or a net, e.g. a fishing net or an anti-submarine net in an underwater scene.

Not a bad idea....or simply if you wanted to make a hair net on a McPoser figure....kewl! (hey I wished that feature was there when I created my Cyberg...er...forgot I had to rename it here for the forums sake....hmm...just go to my website and you'll see it in my art gallery..) http://members.tripod.com/~PANdeRUS/index.html You'll see the effect that I did on my image that would have been so much easier with your idea....(We at the forum call it the 'Mobius' technique...) PAN~

If this idea is implemented, Bryce would have to leave the mesh exactly as it is and not divide the polygons into all triangles. E.g. I have seen real fishing net, and it does <> have a diagonal thread across each mesh square.
