Subject: UVMapper: UVS Importing question?

igohigh ( ) posted Thu, 11 September 2003 at 9:06 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 3:51 AM

If I have 4 'grouped' OBJs example: 4 telephone poles each with 1- vertical pole (identical) 3- horizonatal poles (identical) BUT each has, respectfully, on top: (geometries are NOT identical as above groups) A circle A square A rectangle A star Q: Is there a way to map the one with the circle and then Import it's UVS to the remaining three to cut down mapping by only having to re-map that one 'group' that is different in each OBJ? Actually the mesh is more complicated and took me an hour to map and assign groups and materials but ONLY 1 physical group changes.....???

Dunno, you could make one pole with all four shapes on top, map that and remove them as necessary? - Baz

You can place your mapped groups on top of each other too, like your 3 horizontal poles map then place on top of each other to save room.....Sharen

What I am trying to do is save time when mapping each obj (ie: xxx.obj, yyy.obj, zzz.obj). I have one fully mapped and grouped but now need to map 2 more and since only the top of the mesh changes (say like a human's body but the head changes from a human head, to a skull, to a pumpkin, to a creature; but it's the same Body on all) How could I re-use, or recycle the UVS for the body and only have to map/group the head on the other 2 meshes?
