Subject: A really grey day.

When I did my image David Copperfield and Mr Micawber, I wanted a heavy cloud grey day. No matter how much cloud I used, or even trying Volumetric with the glow slider turned right off, I could not get rid of the sun glow reflection in the windows. I got rid of the sun and tried other lights, but still ended up with too much unrealistic light reflection, or an image that was too dark if I turned the brightness down. I even tried putting spheres with fuzzy material in front of the sun but the glow was still there, in the end I had to settle with turning the sun in a different direction to stop the reflections. That meant I couldnt have the light in the direction I had originally wanted it, and left me to conclude that it is not possible create the light conditions that exist on a truly grey day in Vue. Has anybody ever successfully done this, if I take a photo on a really overcast day there is no sun glow reflecting in windows. Dave

I suspect what you were seeing was actually a specular highlight in the glass material. You might try taking the highlight brightness and/or size right down in the window materials with your original light set-up and see if that solves the problem. Excellent picture by the way.

Thank's Kattleprod, that would seem to be a good idea, it hadn't crossed my mind to try that. To retain the glass look obviously a degree of specularity would have to remain, but it could probably be cut down quite a bit. Thanks for the comment on the image also. Dave
