while not 'exactly' a challenge.. I'm not going to move this post, as there really isn't a good forum for this one. I'd have to classify this as more of a "call to duty" or "call for content" than a challenge. :) In any event.. sounds like a neat project. Without an actual script, you have total freedom to really explore quick cut-scenes and jumps.. which is what most teaser trailers do anyway. :) Have fun with the project.

Well, like with any kind of production, I need some kind of script to work with. Any actor is going to want to "know" his character somewhat. I can say "We gotta get outta here!" Probably close to 100 different ways depending on the situation, and the character. The Tough guy, is going to be saying it with a subtext that says without words... "I'm going to fight every inch of the way until we ARE out of here." The weasly corprate guy will say it meaning "*I* have to get out of here, and if I have to feed you all to the bad thing to save my ass... I'm ok with what." Just look at the difference it can make if it's a question or statement. Accent one word more than the others and the meaning changes again. "WE gotta get outta here!" (All of us.) "We GOTTA get outta here!" (Or no one will be able to warn the good guys) "We gotta GET outta here!" (Which means we have to figure out how to do it first!) "We gotta get OUTTA here!" (Trying to stay locked in here is a bad idea!) "We gotta get outta HERE!" (We can all go to the next room.) This is what directing is all about in a dramatical sence. Guiding your performer to get the performance you want. Then there are the technical issues. If you're mixing dialouge from to people recorded at different loacation, there are bound to be issues. There's always "room tone" the subtle back ground noise that you don't "hear" until you record something and try to edit it. No one has the same silence. 2 Different microphones can sound different even if they are from the same manufacturer and the same model number. Sound cards will intoduce their own audio irregularites. How many Kilohertz do you want the sample recorded at. Do you want MP3's or WAV files. What's the max file size they should be? I can record a bunch of stuff on the condesor mike on my PDA. It will sound like it's from a telephone, but hey... you'll have it. I can use my headset mike plugged into my computer. That will be better quality. What program will we use to record? Just for laughs and demonstrations purposes, I did a quick recording of several versions of "We gotta get outta here!"Rattler has the right idea here. I'm aware of the technical issues but nothing I can really do about it. My microphone records the computer buzzing everytime. MP3 files are probly best. I dont want to lay down a bunch of rules. They should not be TOO long. Rattlers example is actually right on the money. I'll try to make a list of things paople can say. I'm not a good script writer, but would probly help you all. As far as how to record them. What ever is best with your situation. Any software. They dont have to sound perfect like a studios. I couldn't even do that myself.

To help with the cause, I'm including a link to a free audio tool called Audacity. It's Open Source, so it is REALLY free and always will be. It's also cross platform, so it's available for Windows, Mac and several flavors of Linux. There's even a plug-in architecture to add features. When I get a chance to play with it more I'll write up a little tutorial on getting better sound out of your recording. (Better than my Sample.)This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. This is a challenge that I hope will help in the area where I'm not talented. How many times have you heard "I'm making a movie, want to help?" I'm not making a movie but a shot animation. It's going to look like a commercial (trailer) for a movie. (movie will never happen) What I need is some good acting to go with it. The theme is Science Fiction, but anything will probably work. 2 females and 2 males. You'll need a microphone. The more the better. The more you provide the more I have to work with. Besides, I'm not sure how many will be interested so chances you'll win if you try. It doesn't all need to really make sense since it's a trailer. No real plot. Just acting. For example... What would be best is stuff you here in movies all the time like "What the...?" or "Who was that guy" if you get my drift. It's not too important. Thats what the challenge is. You have to be creative. The 4 winners each can pick any item from my store here to have as a prize and will get credit in the animation. The animation is non-profit. Message me hear for sending audio files. Also If anyone is good at acting I'd probably buy files from the Market Place here. I'm sick of using movies and other already used audio. It would be useful to me and especially other people who have Mimic.
