Well, it's been done before, and no doubt will be again. The versions I've seen on the 'Rend have been of varying quality and I hope I've gone someway to improve on this. This was 6 months work off and on, so I hope you'll be kind. This is also the reason I've not posted much lately. Thanks to Zhann for her challenge texture #1 used on the pillars. The vases came from 3dCafe. Thanks also to all the M.C. Escher sites I visited and stole the originals from...and respect to the man himself for being a true original himself. It's not absolutely perfect or accurate, but I may post another version later to correct the worst errors. C&Cs welcome.

very cool, I'm still trying to figure out the optical illusion in it....LOL How do ya get it to look like the bottom is a rectangle one way and the layer in the middle is a rectangle the other way, yet it looks like the pillars all line up to be right on track?? This is awesome....grins Jen

JC: LOL the pillars DON'T line up........look again...

Extraordinary! It hurts my brian to even start thinking abou how you managed this. Brilliant!

danamo ( ) posted Wed, 24 September 2003 at 2:09 AM

I have to congratulate you on this Bryster, it is very well done. I suppose it helps you get a head start on a project like this if your mind is already slightly twisted. ;-)

I just love this! Very good render and wonderful job on the Escher illusion. It keeps the eyes and mind busy for a while trying to figure it out.

Excellent!

Thank you all for your generous comments! The new, improved version will be on my website tonight. Danamo: Yup! I guess you could say I have a slightly twisted mind..... Pakled: Well, I already started 'Reletivity', but I guess you'll beat me to it....I've already worked out how to do 'Balcony'....heheh! If anybody wants, I've got 3.avis that show how these illusions can be created in 3d...... Bryster bows to his audiance and humbly leaves the stage....

I did a 'takeoff' on Relativity..I don't think there's a meeting room with comfy chairs on the walls in the original..;) I was more on implying how #$%^-off layoffs are, know a guy who's IT dept. in 3 countries are all being laid off or rolled-over as contractors.
I tried "Klimmen und Dallern", but a month later someone came out with a version that blew me out of the water..;) Don't worry about 'who did what'..there's plenty of room for improvisation (there's a 3ds model of Relativity out there somewhere..somewhere..;)
