Subject: RDS 5.5???

Momcat ( ) posted Fri, 28 July 2000 at 12:06 PM · edited Sun, 01 March 2026 at 7:04 PM

I am undertaking what has turned out to be a huge project (labor of love) and have found that I need additional software besides P4 to produce it. I need hairstyles that do not yet exist for P4, various buildings, parks, lakes, models of rooms, a rowboat, shopfronts and at least one shop interior, furniture that I can texture....lots of stuff. Is RDS 5.5 a good all around program that can help me achieve my goal (online 3d cg erotic graphic novel)? Is the learning curve any steeper than P4?

Hi Momcat, RDS 5.5 will fit the needs you have listed, nicely. Its not as "User Friendly" as Poser 4. Its a lot more of a technical based program...By that I mean it has a lot more bells and whistles to play with than P4. The learning curve for modeling depends on your background. If you have experience with other modeling programs it should be pretty fast. If you are new to modeling it might take you a while to be able to produce some of the items you listed. There are a few ideas that poped into my head. If this isnt a commercial piece of work..meaning you arent getting paid and the client wont be using it in a commercial environment, you might look for the items you need in the Free Stuff section here or over at 3D Cafe. If it is a paying gig you can always contract out modelers to build the items you need. Just a few ideas I had.... But to answer your question, Yes, RDS will do what you need. If you have any more questions please feel free to post. Have a great day! Clint

Yeah, I've got no previous modeling experience...but I just love new toys(g) I've already been through the free stuff here, and the online store, and the 3d Cafe, and countless other places. This is for the stuff I can't find. The more complicated stuff...like one of the hair pieces, I'm discussing with a professional; but stuff like the buildings and some of the props I think I'll have to make myself.
