Subject: How Do I Give Material A 90-degree Turn

I have a picnic table in a Vue4 scene with a wood material applied to it. Nice, except that the material could use a 90-degree turn, otherwise the planks on the picnic table look like they were cut from a really fat tree. Can it be done? How?

YEP! First is it a mapped or preset texture? If it is mapped, choose the object, then doubleclick on the ICON of the texture. When the window opens, look down towords the bottm left and find the mapped picture. There should be a picture displayed in the small box. If not, then click on load and load the texture you want. On the lower right of the small pic, there are 2 arrows. They will turn your pic 90 degrees at a time. Turn it to suit you needs. Click render (DONT CLOSE THE EDITOR YET) and it will render the full pic with the texture rotated. Experiement with it till you get the desired effect. Hope this has helped you. James (timefighter)

And make certain if you have a bump map loaded, you rotate the bump map in the same direction as the texture. I learned that the hard way...had the wood grain texture going in one direction, but the wood grain bump perpendicular to it!!

Another important thing: In the material editor, click OBJECT STANDARD insteed of the default World standard. So the applied texture moves whith the object. Guitta
