Subject: Scaling tool for Victoria...Mil figures

Exotica ( ) posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 6:18 PM · edited Wed, 11 September 2024 at 8:52 AM

Hi all: I could swear I saw such a thing in the store or freestuff somewhere. I'm basically looking for a tool which will allow me to scale down V3 and be able to save her new size (somehow) along with her other morphs. Seeing as this is going to be a character for the Marketplace, it would have to allow for commercial use. Or, if anyone knows of how to do this without this "tool' I'd appreciate the help. Thanks

Do you mean you want to make her a shorter figure? If so you need to scale her body down more than her head. People tend to have the same sized heads I think. Love esther

No, this is not what I mean exactly...I do want to rescale the entire figure but for some reason Poser (without this 'magic' tool) will not let you save any kind of rescaling in a MOR pose - the dials always revert back to the original. I know that Dark Whisper at a product that would allow this but he has pulled all his products from Renderosity - I guess Daz has purchased them all - I don't know when/if it will show up at Daz. Thanks anyway Esther. Anyone else with any info regarding this?

Well, the problem is that Poser (even Poser5!!!!!) does not save the Body settings in a Pose. At least not scale and morph settings. Not sure about Trans settings. But you can do this yourself quite easily, by saving as a character CR2 instead and then picking out the relevant info and moving it to a suitable PZ2. This can be done either in a text editor or in Morph Manager 4. It's a bit of a drag but it works. I do this for each finished character I create since they ALWAYS have non-standard (ie not all 100%) scaling - that's one good way to get far away from Default-Vicki or Default-Mike. And always scale up the head, on all Milfigures. Their heads are all way too small. :] Fish

hmmmm...I'm not sure I follow. You CAN save morphs as pose files in both P4 & P5, however, you are right that you cannot save the scaling dial settings. To save a MOR pose is very simple...you just save it to your Pose library and a window will pop up asking you if you want to save the morph channels (or something to that effect). People have been jumping through hoops for years trying to create MOR pose files when it's a very simple thing to do. Now the scaling issue is something all together different. I was thinking that perhaps there's an INJ pose to scale the figure that someone has created (or can tell me 'how' to create) which will allow you to just apply it after the MOR pose is applied. I know there are people, quite a few in fact, that have done so because I see products with scaled Mill characters in the Marketplace. I just wish someone would be willing to share this information with me and not feel like they're giving away some great trade secret, lol.

I have used the tool MATPoseEdit (freestuff) to create body scaling poses with good effect.

Thanks Lyrra. I decided to post in the merchant's forum and a few people were able to help me out. They said that DW's tool was the best but since it's not available, at least for the time being, they said to go with MPE also. Thanks though. :)
