Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 6:22 pm)
I've been finding the same thing and it does seem to be a new bug, or at least one of which I've been previously unaware. One important thing is to make sure that all of the nodes in a texture are selected before trying to use the apply to all, otherwise unselected nodes will not be applied and, likely, connections broken. However, even then some 2D image nodes which apparently have the correct texture loaded still show up as blanks, even in their own preview window, after the apply to all option has been used. Reselecting the texture from the node's pull-down menu seems to fix this. Bill
In Poser 4, I find I have to select the item I'm texturing before going into the materials dialogue. If I select it from within materials, and use the 'apply to all' feature, sometimes the textures get screwed up - applied to the wrong things, or just not showing properly. Save / exit / re-open seems to fix it, but I just avoid doing that any more. If the 'apply to all' box isn't changed, then it doesn't matter.

I've been cursing at Poser a lot lately because it does weird things when I go to texture a figure (Renapd & Steve Shank's Knight Armour & Props, to be specific). I'm working in the Display Mode, Texture Shaded so that I can see the textures immediately after applying them (I'm applying the gold knight texture). I can load the texture, hit Apply To All, and see the full texture applied to the figure. I go to render and find areas of the figure (where the texture seemed in place) either coming up white or black. There was gold in those areas in the Texture shaded display mode. I go to the Material Room and those sections of the figure still say that the proper texture is being applied. This problem is at it's worst when I load the P4 Male, the Knight suit, shield, and sword. Sometimes, things will work when I load just the suit and texture it and save it, add the bump, and save it, add the figure, and save it, and so on. I have to render after each step because the display doesn't let me know when part of the figure loses the texture. I've started to learn that I should apply the bump map first and hit Apply to All before I do the same with the texture. Applying the texture to All first and then the bump map will almost always break node links so that I have to reapply textures to parts of the figure. This often seems to exacerbate the problems with textures not showing up in the render. Is this just a big that I have to learn to live with or is there an order in which things have to be done to minimize problems. I'm using Poser 5 SR3 on an 800MHz laptop, 312 Mb RAM, Win98. I went back through to July messages to see if this has cropped up and haven't found anything about it.
