Subject: 1860-1865 Cannot find any thing on the Civil War Peroid :O(

Philywebrider ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 4:52 PM Ā· edited Mon, 20 January 2025 at 3:56 PM

I need civil war clothing for both the North and South. I located some hand guns at Daz, but the only thing I could find at Renderosity were some non-commerical sets. I need Uniforms and dresses. I tried some searches at Poserworld but found nothing. I tried searching under "Civil War", "Yankee", "Confederate", but no luck. Any ideas as to what else I could search under? Thanks for whatever help you can give. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be much appreicated. This is for a commerical work, so non-commerical items are inappropiate.

Well.....if you are looking for "Civil War" clothing (for men) go to BBay.com and do a search for "Crowfoot" He has done some wonderful uniforms for this period. I am sorry I don't know about any dresses or about Commercial use...but it's start. (: genny

Poser World has clothing for the 8th Wisconsin Infantry - 1861 in the August 5th update. It is in the clothes section. . .

there's also some scenery and stuff for the civil war at the 3d Commune if you're interested in that.

For the females try cloudlandcastle.com. She has some "southern belle" dresses for Victoria and the preteen. On the archive cd's there are some for posette, and of course on the Poserfashion archive CD she sells there is all Serge Marcks old stuff, which includes lots of period dresses, mostly for posette, but there are one or two for Victoria.

Hi Judith I tried Planit3d and the Stage Coach, the Conestoga Wagon, and other items were fantastic!, but the creater of the models pulled all the freebies off. Said he would sell them instead. He said he did it in protest of something about Renderosity's Gallery policy. I do want to thank you Judith, it had exactly what I needed. My bad luck. :O(

I have used Poserworlds Edwardian jacket as a civil war uniform when the figure is in the distance. But haven't been able to get a uv map from it to do a proper texture. Also used the Naval uniform jacket and post worked in the bottom area.

:( I'm sorry Hun, I didn't think to check the download links before I posted it. On the flip side, I just bought Helmut's charger harness a few days ago and it is excellent. If he does market them, you'll be sure to get a good product (Poser ready too, I imagine, whereas the 3ds would have taken some work)

Wait a minute.... they do work. Click on the one you want to download... go to the bottom of the page, and you'll find the download link where it says Download 3DS. Mouseover 3DS, that's the download link.

chohole your work looks great. I need to be actual design. The cover is a Civil War Romance, and Civil War buffs are notorious for "counting buttons".

Judith I hope you realize that you are dealing with a dummy. Many thanks for the help. I downloaded the wagons and as happy as a pig in...eh...mud. :OP

Know just what you mean Phily. I spent 20 years doing ACW re-enactment, and I used to make many of the dresses and uniforms. Spent hours searching for just the right braid and just the right sort of material...no synthetics allowed. BTW I was a reb of course, when I wasn't being a southern belle. And that is authentic, there were women who disguised themselves and fought alongside the men. You might find some pictorial references here

Many thanks chohole. I was a newspaper sketch artist for the North. :O)

Actually, I made the same mistake the first time I found them. Took a while, but it came back to me. :)) Have fun with the cover.

Ha!- Sometimes you have to take a break from that kinda stuff, and all the poke-through worries. I did a combo 3" Parrott rifle and brass 6 pounder cannon too (you turned a dial to change the tube), it was on one of the Renderosity magazine disks but I don't know if I even still have a copy of it. Your welcome, too!

Anybody seen a Confederate Cavalry hat, grey or tan, wide brim, left side folded up, with or without a plume? I hope, I hope, I hope... :OP Jim Burton-Let me get this straight...You made a 3" Parrott rifle? ( how does the parrott hold it? ) :OP
