Hi all, I have this train station obj. i bought a while back in the MP. I discovered it needs a UV map. 1) what's the best type of map to apply? Box, planar, etc? 2) once it's mapped, do i 'save model'? I tried that and it didn't take. Thanks in advance for any advice ram

Something this big you're going to need to break apart the mapping. Map the walls flat, The floor too. Each light pole should have a seperate cylinder. The rook beams should be mapped seperately too. The stairs will be a real pain. ordinarilly I'd map this at it was modeled. That way each tred of the stairs could be mapped seperately. That's pretty hard to do on a finished model. Is it a lot of work? You bet it is! but that's the only way to make it look really good. In the MP and not mapped... Sheash! I hope it was cheap. Nerd.

Aargh!! That's a lot of work. No, it wasn't cheap either. Although it's a couple years old if that makes any difference. It is irritating. I'll contact the creator and see what's up. Thanks for your help Nerd.

The way I'd go about this is (using uv mapper) to make a basic box map of the entire model. Then, using the 'select by material' option, (or 'select by group' if it's a cr2 obj), break it down into parts and map them in the appropriate way. Nerd's right. It's a lot of work. He's also right in saying that a model in the MP should definitely have a map. mac PS After you save a re-mapped obj, you MUST go to the Geometry folder it lives in, and delete the accompanying .rsr file. If you have a 'train.obj', there will also be a 'train.rsr'. Delete this because it contains all the mapping info from the old obj, and poser will continue to read it. When you open the figure or prop, poser will build a new .rsr file.

Thanks, Mac. I'll try out your suggestions. The station comes as a pz3 - i exported it as an obj so UV Mapper could import it. This is new ground for me so maybe I'll learn somethin new. Thanks again. ram
