Hey guys Im having some difficulty using the V3 morphes with P5. Even if I have the file paths correct it dosent seem to be able to find them. I also would like to get people's thoughts on Poser's file compression. My runtime folder is about 10gig. I have to manualy file compress everything except jpgs when i want to backup the runtime folder. Im also running out of room on the drive that Poser is on. 1) does this take a long time to do the first time? 2) does this make poser run even slower than it already does? (Im using P5 on an Ibook 800) hase anyone intergrated there old runtime folder with the P5 runtime folder? Brian

I go one further... I have both P4/PP and P5. Can they use the same runtime? i.e. Can my runtime be on say... h:/runtime, while poser 4 is on h:/Poser4 and poser 5 is on h:/poser5 I believe it can, but I've never done it in practice. I guess both P4 and P5 would have their main runtimes and some stuff would have to be duplicated, but atm if I want to use something in P4 and P5 I either install it in both - or else. My runtime is HUGE, yes about 10gb. Poser takes forever to load :( BTW - I already put V2, V3, M2, M3, Scenery in their own runtimes in the top level poser directory (i.e. Poser5/V3/Runtime/...) but I was thinking wouldn't it be nice to have both Poser versions working of the same copies?

The ideal way would be to install Poser 4 and Poser 5 in separate directories. Then add Poser 4's runtime to Poser 5. Now install everything new into Poser 4's runtime folder. You can delete unused or duplicate content like the P4 and P2 figures from Poser 5's runtime, but do not delete the whole runtime folder. There are files in e.g. runtime/ui, runtime/prefs, runtime/plugins, runtime/python etc that are vital for Poser and not interchangeable between Poser 4 and Poser 5. File compression: You don't have to compress manually. ProPack and Poser 5 come with a Python script that can compress whole folders and subfolders. And I think Ockham wrote a script once that deletes redundant files, e.g. .rsr files for which pngs exist or cr2s when there are czzs in the same place.

I've found that Poser 5 REALLY likes having the actual morph files (the libraries!DAZ folder) in it's main runtime. If they're located in another runtime then injecting/removing morphs seem to take forever. With the V3 SR2.1 patches installed then the pose files (all those libraries/pose/!V3*** folders) can be moved wherever you feel is most convenient. Some "characters" for V3 may have the path to a pose injection file coded into their pose file. These can be changed in a text editor to point directly to the appropriate files in the !DAZ folder. -- Mark
