Poser Python Scripting F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Sep 18 2:50 am)

We now have a ProPack Section in the Poser FreeStuff.
Check out the new Poser Python Wish List thread. If you have an idea for a script, jot it down and maybe someone can write it. If you're looking to write a script, check out this thread for useful suggestions.

Also, check out the official Python site for interpreters, sample code, applications, cool links and debuggers. This is THE central site for Python.

You can now attach text files to your posts to pass around scripts. Just attach the script as a txt file like you would a jpg or gif. Since the forum will use a random name for the file in the link, you should give instructions on what the file name should be and where to install it. Its a good idea to usually put that info right in the script file as well.

Subject: Python for removing all those files in the drop down list in Material Room

I know I saw a script somewhere for removing or clearing all the files in the drop down lists in the material room. I try out tons of textures and then when I save the figure they just live there forever! Would like to be able to get rid of them. Thought it was in FreeStuff but couldn't find it anywhere... New topic...how to add a script to the permanant list in Poser without having to add it every time I use the program. Like a "Clean up Lights" script that could reside there all the time. I have one that's just great but have to go get it every time I open the program.

I don't know of any good way to remove the drop-down list. It's contained in the ImageIOEnginePrefs file, and deleting that file makes Poser start fresh the next time. Here's an alternate solution. This script takes selected CR2 files and rewrites them, leaving only the materials that are actually used in the figure. Caution: this works in my P4 setup, but might not work in other setups. See the readme for details on use.
