Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
Do you have Classic in your computer? Then you can still run these utilities. I haven't tried Macinstaller, so I don't know if that works in OSX, but Maconverter does. Also, not everything needs converting. It's only the preview rsr's that don't work in P5 on the Mac. If you download something with png's you can install it right away. P5 will "see" the cr2's etc even if the icons are wrong, as it looks at the file name endings to decide what file type it is.
...I'm strictly an OS X user now, and proud of it- been using and abusing it for a year plus and have yet to suffer from a single crash or lock up. As for the Poser Utilities, if all I need to do is convert the previews, then I can learn to live without OS X converters. I was under the impression that the PC to Mac converters dealt with functionality. Thanks for the insight.
"...I'm strictly an OS X user now, and proud of it" It's just that kind of arrogance that keeps more people on "the dark side" from coming over to OS X. The Unix-based OS is demonstrably better in many ways than both XP Pro and OS 9, but arrogance and false pride are not good selling points, nor is a blindness to the many problems still inherent in OS X that need improvement. It sounds too much like some kind of Nixonian dogma: "OS X, love it or leave it." It alienates, rather than recruits newbies.
...It's not false pride (Perhaps misdirected since yes, the stability of OS X is less so Apple's doing as it is their embracing Unix as a their OS's base), I've been using OS X at home for over year and have been very happy with it's stability unlike XP Pro which I also been using for a year at the office and have had nothing but frustrating problems (Critical updates, bugs, holes, and crashes) with on nearly a weekly basis disrupting my productivity (Insert sad growl). Now I'm not here to attack XP pro or windows in any way, I'm also not here to promote OS X, but I am here to voice my opinion and that is I am both happy and proud of the performance of one over the other at this time. I use both, I feel that both have their merits, I believe both have their faults, it's just I feel that currently XP Pros faults outweigh it's benefits when compared to OS X. Thing may change, but until they do I will continue to express my self and my pleasure with the OS that isn't causing me the most problems honestly and openly accepting full well that others opinions may very- All I ask in the mean time is for individuals not to attack me and call me names like "arrogant" (That's just childish and rude).
...I have to agree. Personally, as I mentioned, due to using both I have found have elements I really like and miss when using the other. Thus I say that if I had my dithers, both companies Apple and Windows would work harmoniously together to provide computer users everywhere with an operating system that is complete, full featured and stable from the get go. But alas this is not the world we live and instead we are stuck with what you have observed, childish games of my OS can beat up your OS anyday. Very frustraiting I have to agree.

I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm tired of trolling through various forums looking for answers, I need help, and I would like it now. I finally purchased Poser 5 for my Mac, which is now running OS X, and have been trilled with it though I'm starting to get bored with using the characters, poses, and props that were originally provided for it by Curious Labs and thus would like to start playing with the plethora of resources that are out their online. The thing is, most of the stuff is made for PC and not for the Mac. Now I know that when I was using OS 9 and Poser 4 their where utility programs available to not only convert the files from one OS to the other but there where also utilities that would automatically instal things where they belonged. I've looked, but there doesn't seem to be any such utilities that will instal on OS X? Am I wrong, I hope so, PLEASE provide me with some direction it would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance...
