OK. I dropped Edvard Munch for the time being (couldn't get it scary enough), so I went back to square one and something I started when the theme was first released. This is a part of the entrance of the Notre Dame de Reims. To me; the Medival cathedrals are some of the finest constructions - ever. What is special about the one in Reims - hmm.. several things. Jean d'Arc celebrated her victory there, and escorted her king up to the alter to his crowning. But in addition to that; it is one of the first occurances where the outside sculptures were given facial expressions. My favorite (and I'm sure many others!) is the "smiling angel", - or as I prefer to call her; "the mischivious angel". Because that's what she looks like. Anyhow; I've been working a lot with one of the pictures I took, - trying to recreate it in Bryce. I've worked with it; split it up into two different terrains; - and actually the shape isn't all that bad. But this is what I get: With anti-aliasing, without. WITH bump, - without. The smoothest one - I had the terrain resolution upped to 2000 (the mega resolution).. I've rendered it "normal" and "fine"... and it's "fine" that's cooking now. And the result gets like the middle lower example (a bit better). What can I do to make this more "real" looking? I've only been in Reims once, but went back to the cathedral several times. I simply couldn't get enough of it. And of course I took a "few" pictures

I think maybe how real this looks may depend on the rest of the scene, lighting, etc. Plus a bit of postwork to make the places where you have some jaggies a bit smoother. Looks real good so far!

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Hmmm, are you applying a bump to the texture? That might account for something like that, cause height-terrains and bump height don't go well together.

BTw, britt, something for you, cause of "facial expressions". :-)
