Attached Link: http://www.renderosity.com/questionnaire.ez?Ques=25

Please vote for the header/sidebar color that you think would be a good color for Renderosity. If there is insufficient voting participation, then admins and mods will make a final decision. So place your vote and tell others. Voting will end November 14th. The announcement for the color vote will take place November 17th. thanks, --The Renderosity Team

I can't seem to find any other mention of this questionnaire anywhere. Why is it not on the front page? Why is it not in the newsletter? Why is it not formally announced in each forum? It seems to be tucked away with no fanfare, and then there is the insinuation that we will not care enough to vote. Please see that this gets more publicity. Tresamie

I have added it to the frontpage. It is in this weeks newsletter and will be in next weeks as well. The mods will be announcing it in their forums. I will place a link with the forum news announcement area as well. thanks tammy

Ummm...wait a second...we're going to go thru another color change? After all the arguing and protesting after the first color change, we were told we would be allowed to change our personal background and text to suit us...but not the header and sidebar...which caused 'another' round of complaints.... Now we get this?? And if nobody votes for the same color..then what?..the PTB picks yet again what we are to look at? ~sheesh~

This is due to the community survey feedback and the forum feedback.

Thanks tammy! Maybe if the peeps get a say in the choice of colour, there wont be so much griping about the change. (although some peeps will just gripe about anything)

Where's the option that says "They're equally hideous"? If I am to vote for a new colour it needs to be one that is an IMPROVEMENT. Of the three options, the one that is current is the one that fits the logo best. But that STILL doesn't mean that I LIKE that poo-brownish colour. I have learned to live with it, especially since it was possible to swithc the background and text colours back to "normal", but asking ppl to chose from these three colours are a joke. My vote goes to: USER DEFINED COLOURS.

User defined colors really seem the best compromise.

Some features were put into place where we did not do a good job analyzing the affect on the brand. This was one of them. There are some things that we would like to do in order to better recognize groups and using designated colors was something that we were intersted in but that is difficult when everyone can change all their colors so this has prevented us in using this approach. There were support issues. We have had to deal with members not being able to view content because of issues with color selections. They could not see to even navigate the site to change them back. From a marketing standpoint, there needs to be some consistency in color and what everyone sees. How many websites allow members to change everything about their website? I know some sites give members the ability to select from pre-designed color schemes. We felt it would be better brand recognition for Renderosity if the site had some consistent color scheme. We compromised and let members select their background, text, and links. thanks tammy

I think that is true, tammy. I can't tell you how annoying it is not to be able to read a message because someone colored it to their own preference and completely ignored the fact that it isn't visible on a variety of backgrounds. That's happened to me in the Marketplace...and, guess what, I didn't buy from that color obsessed merchant. We must visit a hundred websites a day that we can't customize as much we can that one...why is this community so focused about something that matters so little. Don't like the colors?...build your own websites and make it any color you want. Are you really spending 100% of your life here that you get all upset about something very few other websites let you change in the first place? Have you ever asked yourself why is something so unimportant is causing such trauma and drama in your life? And maybe the problem isn't what Renderosity is doing but how much importance you are placing on it? I voted "I don't care" for the colors. In the scheme of things that are imporant to me, this is way down at the bottom. I don't think Renderosity should have a vote each and every time. Just pick a color scheme and make it so without trying to jump through hoops for a bunch of people who can't agree anything anyway. I'm really feeling cranky today.

;) We've been down the road before, haven't we?

Orio ( ) posted Thu, 06 November 2003 at 5:30 PM

I voted for gray. It's the only logical choice (together with black or white) for an art-related website. The colour of the background DOES influence the perception of the other colors (it's science, not an opinion) and to serve best an art site, the color MUST be completely neutral.

Jumpstartme2 ( ) posted Fri, 07 November 2003 at 1:23 AM

Well, if we're stuck with 3 color choices..I guess I will have to pick grey as well...at least its better than that 'poo' brown stuff...:D

  1. Which header/sidebar color do you think would best represent Renderosity? (509/932, 54.6%) Blue (177/932, 19.0%) Gray (212/932, 22.7%) Current color (34/932, 3.6%) Does not matter to me Will post again early next week.

Orio ( ) posted Fri, 07 November 2003 at 6:31 PM

Sigh... what an imprudent choice. Sure blue "looks cool"... on its own... but I wish people could vote not based on what appeals more at a stand alone look, but based on the consequences that the choice will have on what's displayed on this website. That blue is just too strong as a background for a site that is to host artworks made by many different artists and styles. It just will do good to some but bad to many. Pictures whose colour won't go together with that blue, will just end up clashing against it. And not just pictures - marketplace items too. It will also affect the display of the marketplace. Even the poo brown would be less harmful than that blue. Orio

Oh good grief..I thought for sure grey would have been a more popular choice among artists...it blends with just about anything...~sigh~

Well it's not the BACKGROUND they're changing, is it? I hope not. I was under the impression that it was the poo-brown sidebar only. And none of the colours in question were any good imo. But at least the Poo brown works with the logos, whereas the blue was the one that had absolutely NOTHING in common with the logos. Seems reasonable that this is the one they choose then :o( Ah well...

It will not replace the background just only the header and sidebar. Any three choices will look good but that is just my opinion. :) tammy
