Subject: Banner rotations?

Out of curiosity, is the banner rotation really random? I've noticed that swades's banner pops up about every other time on my pc. I've also seen some others several times while some I've not seen at all. Anyone else seeing that?

Agent Smith said he was going to put them in groups of twenty and rotate said groups every other day. Maybe he hasen't gotten around to it yet or has had technical problems. Dunno..... Whats up AS?

Depending where a particular banner falls within that 20 you could see the same one several times, and others once in a while....in other words if swade uploaded 2 banners at the same time , in rotation they would show one after another. To see what I mean check the banner area to see which banners are next to each other.

The "random-ness" seems to be working out differently for different people. But, overall if you just refreshing the page, you will get a greater chance of seeing the same pic)s) over and over. AS

I'm not just refreshing the page and I see about the same 15 banners - doesn't matter if I am on IE5 or Safari on the Mac. I constantly click on new links in the site and I still get the same group in the rotation. I wonder if it only works properly for PC??? Scott

ummmmm i played with random things before...random is much different then cycled... (just thinkin out loud here so if ya already know, just skip me..lol) to me, random can be done two different ways.... examples.... throw 20 names in a hat, draw one out randomly, one at a time, placing drawn names aside..... this is random, yes, but also a bit incremental, as one name can only be drawn once till the hat is empty, and begun again. then there's the digital random selection.... take those same 20 names, throw in the same hat, and draw one name at a time, each time, returning the name to the hat... some names could be drawn many times, while others, might never be drawn.... in my logical mind, i see two ways of dealing and fixing this...lol delve into deep complex programming and set variables for each banner, and set those variables so that x = you and 1 - 20 = banners and have it say something like if x = 5 then move 5 + z if z does not = 5 in last 10 minutes.... (lol ok, i suck at programming, and algebra, but hey, i try...lol) the second way is to toss the random, and go incremental.. but then again, in a webpage that is viewed by hundreds at once, you'd have to figure out the x = you sees banner 4 while x + 1 = next user sees banner 5 or if it can be cycled by IP # on an individual basis... ok, think i confused enough for one night...lol an not even gonna try to read back through that, but the names in the hat is what i was gettin at....LOLOL Jen

Lol, no a good point though, I'll see if I can go and find an incremental code. I still have a different random code to try out, maybe that will fare better. AS
