I'm new to Vue as in days only. After sorting out the Open GL ticked crashes my display problem I've come up with a question. That is I have lots of good matterials in Bryce format. Is it possible to convert Bryce Mat's into a format usable by Vue?

Well, a lot of answers you'll find in our Backroom. Look up and enjoy. Bryce materials to Vue? In principle: no! Sometimes a little trick works - more or less. Apply a material in Bryce to a terrain for example. Export that from Bryce (obj-file for example) and import the export into Vue. In some cases it worked for me. But in fact, there are so many free materials available for Vue as well, i dont really miss the Bryce ones. Hope that helps a little, Walther

I recently wondered about this too because I find that the terrain materials in Vue are not as "rich" as some of the Bryce mats. For instance, in Bryce I have a terrain material that is sandy at the base of the terrain and gets rocky and grassy as the terrain altitude moves up. It's great for islands. A sandy shore and then a mountain. The base materials in Vue don't seem to have one with a similar effect and my attempts at creating one have failed. The only thing I've thought I could do is have a separate sandy shore flat-ish terrain and then a mountain terrain each separately textured - but Must I? I will try the Bryce export method and see if I get "satisfaction". Dave

The best fire material I have seen is Clay's fire which is a Bryce material. I tried to apply it to a terrain in Bryce 5 but for some reason it won't apply to it. It will apply to objects but Bryce won't export them. Has anyone gotten Clay's fire into Vue? Here is an image of the fire... http://claygraphics.phase2.net/volumetricfire.html
